Métis Calgary Services is thrilled to announce The Buffalo Symposium 4.0: Inspiring Indigenous Youth National Conference, taking place from October 22nd to 25th, 2026, in Calgary, Alberta, at the Best Western Premier Calgary Plaza Hotel & Conference Centre. This highly anticipated event marks the culmination of a 16-year, for-Indigenous-by-Indigenous vision and stands as the fourth and final Buffalo Symposium.
The Buffalo Symposium 4.0 promises to be the most exciting yet, igniting pride, confidence, and purpose in Indigenous youth through transformative workshops, powerful keynote presentations and meaningful interactions with Indigenous role models, mentors and Elders. The conference will include a Saturday evening dinner gala and dance party, featuring music by DJ Staniml. Attendees will also have opportunities to participate in organized recreational activities and engage with a comprehensive youth Resource Fair, showcasing post-secondary institutions and information booths offering programs and services tailored to Indigenous youth.
The Youth Conference will feature an accomplished lineup of Indigenous leaders, role models, mentors and youth advocates, including Gemini award-winning actor Michelle Thrush, MTV nominated rapper Drezus, Suzette Amaya, Dr. Peter Eppinga, Conway Kootenay "Smudge Pan", Amy Badry, DJ Staniml and Terrance Houle. Collectively, these presenters will contribute to a high quality, culturally grounded experience that supports Indigenous youth in developing confidence, leadership skills and a clear vision for their future!
The event is open to Indigenous Youth from across Canada, aged 12 - 18 years. Participants under the age of 18 are required to attend with a registered chaperone; further details regarding chaperone registration can be provided upon request.
